This cart was stationed at the end of Gernot and Marisa’s block, and sweet, refreshing cups of milky iced tea soon became a regular part of our routine. In case any of you US folks were wondering who still uses sweetened condensed milk – the answer is Southeast Asia. It’s sticky deliciousness turns up all over the place.

Chiang Mai, Thailand The Museum of Insects and Natural Wonders was a couple of blocks from Gernot’s place. It was quite an eccentric place, with loads of specimens from all over the world.
Orchid Spray
Orchids are everywhere in Chiang Mai – as common as begonias are here at home. They are popular as hanging plants on porches, and they are also planted in the trees along the city sidewalks. This spray was just a few doors down from Gernot’s place.
