Water Bowl and Rose Petals
We saw bowls like this, with water and flowers, on many doorsteps throughout our time in Chiang Mai. I was quite charmed by them, and am working on setting one up on our front patio.
Ice Monster
Home of shaved ice treats, topped with (more) sweetened condensed milk and frozen fruit. These really hit the spot on hot, humid days!

Giant Bean
Found on a walk in the neighborhood. Dan got a leg up from a passing taxi driver, who was quite amused at our attempts to jump up and pick the bean. Chiang Mai, Thailand
Mango Leaf Incubator
The (rather sizeable) ants in Gernot’s yard were working away at gluing together the leaves of this mango tree. Chiang Mai, Thailand
Cha Yen Stand
This cart was stationed at the end of Gernot and Marisa’s block, and sweet, refreshing cups of milky iced tea soon became a regular part of our routine. In case any of you US folks were wondering who still uses sweetened condensed milk – the answer is Southeast Asia. It’s sticky deliciousness turns up all over the place.
